Mini’s World

My first book, Mini’s World, is in print! Okay, just a custom print of a family edition, not published in any store. But print, all the same!

A quick teaser about the book:

Mini’s World is the story of a simple South Indian girl, born in the 1930s pre-independence India. This girl became my mother. Coming from a large, boisterous family of extremely orthodox Tamil Iyengar Brahmins, Mini’s childhood is spent in blissful innocence.

The story depicts life in rural Tamil Nadu from the 30s to the 50s, Mini’s growing up years, through personal anecdotes, quirky or outright bizarre traditions, family drama and conflicts. What was the life of women like? What was the role of caste and religion?

Neither widely read, nor brought up in a politically aware family, Mini has zero political inclinations. But for a couple of twists of fate, she would have led an unremarkable, ordinary life.

Where does destiny lead her? Who are the significant people in her life? How does she end up as a trade union leader?
